Javier Chamorro is the Managing Director at Meca Investments. He was the Executive Director of PRONicaragua, the Nicaraguan Investment Promotion Agency, between 2007-2017. During his management, the institution was recognized as the best investment promotion agency by the World Bank in its 2012 Global Investment Promotion Benchmarking.
Before working in PRONicaragua, Javier made a career working in the private sector. During that time he was the Commercial Director for OCAL, a leading consumer goods importer and distributor in Nicaragua. He also worked as Sales Country Manager for Kellogg’s Company Central America and was Head Department Buyer for Central American Retail Holding (currently Wal-Mart Central America).
He has also worked in business development in sectors such as Energy and Mining for leading companies in Nicaragua, and has been a business developer himself in fields such as Commerce, Real Estate and Finance.
He is a Central American Leadership Initiative Fellow (CALI), part of the Aspen Global Leadership Network; and serves on the board of Operation Smile Nicaragua.
His formal studies were in Business Administration at Universidad Americana in Managua.
